A small collection of photos from our first summer in Exmoor, learning new ways of life in the community and nature. We especially think that the Pharaohs enjoy their new home and are totally at ease – even Nanu has found some new skills as a Houdini hound! Weatherwise – it was a rainy spring and so far a half and half rainy summer – but when the suns out – it’s roasting, which has been giving us some time to relax and reflect on the move and our first six months here.
We’ve taken on many new routines, thrown out the old ones and already met plenty of friendly people and lovely neighbours. We’ve also been hard at work starting some home improvements and getting the gardens and land under control; so far, we’ve ripped out the old rotting deck and the back of the property and replaced them with a lovely Indian stone patio.
Next is the new front patio and footbridge over the leat, which will also coincide with a new coat of paint on the house (we wondered when it was last done), new fascias, soffits, and guttering. We just have to move the slightly inconvenient bees’ nest, which is located in one soffit next to the study. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, so we can help them on their way.
